The Best Moment in My Life
Life is like an ever-changing sea. There are
times when the sea is peaceful with no harms;
there are also times when the sea turns into a
mindless monster and destroys everything. These
are ups and downs in our lives, and each of them
resembles a small piece of a jigsaw puzzle. As time
goes on, we put the pieces together, and we get a
beautiful picture of our lives. For me, the best piece
of my jigsaw puzzle is formed by the moments I
spent with my friends.
I still remember the first day of our training for
the relay race, the most exciting event the whole
school looked forward to every year. When the
sun was still dozing in the light gray sky, I was
awakend by the soft voice of my classmates, seeing
that everyone was ready to start practice. Our
class had made agreement to practice early in the
morning every day to achieve the best in the relay
race. By the time we arrived at the sports field, the
boys had already been there getting ready for the
practice. Much to our surprise, our teacher showed
up to observe and guide the class. However,
things didn’t turn out right at first. Some of the
classmates were too tired to move, and others were
grumbling that they didn’t get sufficient sleep. Our
morning practice ended up doing nothing. I was
very disappointed. Even though everybody came,
nobody had the intention to practice. As a class
leader, I was so angry at myself for not trying to
persuade and lead the class to do the right thing.
The next day, our teacher told us that our
attitude wasn’t right. She told us: "A farmer who
doesn’t sow wouldn’t get any harvest. "If you’re too
lazy to practice, we wouldn’t even have the chance
to get into the first three.” After hearing that, we
were all ashamed of our behavior the day before.
We decided that we would try harder to achieve
victory. In the following month, everybody worked
hard to strive for the best result. We got up early
and sacrificed our sleep to practice without any

complaint. We cheered each other up when we
were about to give up. The boys were even willing
to use their leisure time to do extra training for the
race. I was really moved by what they did. During
the training, never had we stopped even when
we got injured during the practice. The scars and
bruises were still left on our limbs, and our skin
was tanned by the blazing sun. We regarded them
as the symbols of the work we had paid off. After
this month of intense training, we were ready for
the relay race.
On the day of the big game, as the judge fired
the starting gun, the first runner sprinted to the
front with full speed. The first lap, second lap, third
lap, then it was my turn. The moment I took hold
of the baton, adrenaline soon burst into my veins.
I picked up the speed with my muscles tensed,
and my heart beat quickly as I surpassed runners
from other classes. In the shouts and cheers of my
classmates, I successfully passed the relay baton to
the last lap. With drops of sweat rolling down my
forehead, I watched the runner passing the finish
line. The crowd suddenly burst into a cheer! We
won the championship. Happy tears filled my eyes
as everyone came running around in great joy. The
arduous and tiring training for a month had paid
off.
After the sports day, the class became more
united. We were all proud of the red championship
flag that is still hanging at the back of the
classroom. Since then, it dawned on me that being
with my friends is the best moment in my life.
They are the most wonderful people who always
stay positive and work hard for everything, and
they motivate me to continue to go on. I am so
fortunate to have them in my life. Without them,
the jigsaw puzzle of my life wouldn't be complete.
They are truly the most important puzzle piece of
my life picture.
