Success
國三辛 邱可瑄
Everyone has dreams he wants to accomplish, but those dreams are often neglected or thrown away
in order to "acquire success." Everyone strives to become successful. But, how exactly is "success"
defined? And how does one determine if he is successful? Everyone’s definition of success is different.
Some may think success is to get into a good college, while others may think success is determined by the
number of friends they have. Namely, on the road to find oneself, one of the possibly most crucial lessons
to learn is that there is no universal formula for success.
"The person is so successful, you should follow in her footsteps." Growing up, we hear numerous
versions of a sentence like this. Out of the 7.1 billion people on earth, not every single person is the same.
Everyone has different personalities, interests, and goals. Following someone’s road to success doesn’t
necessarily mean being truly successful. That is, we shouldn’t give up our ideals just to attain someone
else’s idea of success. Why don't we create our own path? It may not be the easiest one, but at least we
can look back and see the journey we have taken, rather than the ones others have paved for us.
My dad once told me ,"The outcome isn’t the most important; it's the process that matters." I thus
believe everyone should fight for his dreams and ideals, and with the right attitude, there is nothing that
cannot be achieved. In my opinion, success conveys the message about understanding what is important
and how to prioritize it to obtain the goals set. If we try to meet someone else’s interpretation of success,
we will never be happy. To me, being truly successful also means having the courage to do what makes
us happy and not giving up on our dreams. Sometimes, the end of the journey may somehow not be what
we expect, but at least we hold on to our ideals and try as hard as we can to make everything possible.
