Facing Challenges
國三辛 邱可瑄
Many believe that challenges are opportunities set up for failure and moments for humiliation
and embarrassment. But we must realize, on the road towards success, challenges aren’t merely
70 speed bumps slowing us down, but rather a chance for self-improvement. Once we realize this, we
will gradually start to have a deeper appreciation for the unstable rhythm of life.

光 contrary, the easy way out is like a tunnel that takes us through mountains instead of around it.
Perhaps we do get to our destination faster, but we will probably miss out the whole journey.
Being a child that has had to transfer schools every three to four years due to my father’s job, I
know how difficult it is to have the strength not to give up. Being thrown into a completely different
environment—thousands of miles away from the place I used to call home—is not easy, no matter
how many times I go through the same thing. Having to take the first step into my new school with
a smile plastered on my face even though I long to go back to my old life, looking back, I wouldn’t
change my past for the world. Having moved so many times, I’ve learnt to adapt to new alien
environments, how to connect with others, and most importantly, how to broaden my comfort zone.
To quote the poem from one of my favorite poets, Robert Frost, “Two roads diverged in the
wood, and I—I took the one less travelled by. “ Although the road chosen is rough, its uniqueness
has made all the difference throughout the whole journey. This continues to inspire me and help me
face new challenges life has yet to give me.
